Professor Dr. Jan Gerris

MD, PhD, University Hospital Ghent, Belgium

Professor Dr Jan Gerris is currently Professor of Gynecology at Ghent University Hospital and is Chairman (in a managerial capacity) of the Sector Man, Woman and Child (encompassing the departments of gynecology, obstetrics, paediatrics, neonatology, urology, medical oncology and plastic surgery). Jan continues to be actively involved in research and PhDs. He has more than 200 publications to his name and is editor-in-chief of three books.
  

Background

From 1976, Jan studied at the State University of Ghent, becoming a gynaecologist in 1981. He is a member, board-member and vice-chairman of the Flemish Society for Gynecologists and also belongs to many national and international fertility societies. He was the
                                                        founding chairman of the ESHRE (the European Society for Human
                                                        Reproduction and Embryology) Special Interest Group “Quality 
                                                        and Safety in ART”.
